5 Sample Letter Of Interest For A Job

5 Sample Letter Of Interest For A Job. A letter of interest is distinct from a cover letter for an internal position, which you use to apply for a promotion or transfer in a company for which you already work.

A letter of interest is a broad statement indicating that you’re intrigued by a company and hope to find opportunities there. Though there may be a job opportunity within that company, it’s not guaranteed and they’re not actively seeking resumes.

What is a letter of interest?

A letter of interest also known as a letter of inquiry or a prospecting letter is a formal business letter that introduces potential applicants to a company that has not advertised a job opportunity. Unlike cover letters, a letter of interest is not necessarily tailored to a particular job posting and is sent unsolicited to employers to express your interest in opportunities with the organization.

What is a Cover letter?

A cover letter is something you send during your job search. It is typically sent along with a resume when applying for a specific job opening. Its main purpose is to introduce yourself and explain why you are a good fit for the position. A cover lettershould highlight your skills, experience, and achievements that are relevant to the job description and role you are applying for and demonstrate how you can contribute to the company.

Letter of Interest vs Cover Letter

There are several differences between a cover letter and letter of interest. That is, when you write a cover letter, you’re targeting a specific role that’s been advertised. while, a letter of intent is sent to a company on your own initiative. It should impress the hiring manager so that they’ll want to call you in for an interview. In other words, a letter of interest can be sent at any time whereas a cover letter is meant to be sent with your resume in a job application.
